Amazon launches Supplementary Nutrition Program serving 9,000+ children across 130 government schools in Telangana

Funded by Amazon and implemented by Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, the program has served over 5 million meals to date, addressing hunger-related absenteeism in government schools across Rangareddy District
Hyderabad, Telangana – August 7, 2026 – Amazon has launched the Amazon Supplementary Nutrition Program at ZPHS Hythabad, Shabad (M), Rangareddy District, Telangana. The program provides daily morning nutrition to over 9,071 children across 130 government schools in Kandukur, Yacharam, and Shabad Mandals, Rangareddy District.
The launch ceremony was graced by Shri A. Madhusudhan Reddy, Chairman, Zilla Grandhalaya (Libraries) Samstha, Rangareddy District and Sri. Venkateshwarlu- District Education officer.
The program provides fortified ragi with jaggery, multi-grain cookies, and millet-peanut-sesame chikkis six days a week, serving over 2.5 lakh meals per month. To date, the program has served over 5 million meals, addressing hunger-related absenteeism, improving classroom concentration, and demonstrating a successful public-private partnership model with the state government.
Amazon’s Community Investment in India
The Supplementary Nutrition Program is part of Amazon’s broader commitment to community development in India. AWS operates two cloud data center Regions in India located in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Amazon plans to invest an additional $13 billion to expand AI and cloud infrastructure in the country by 2030. This takes Amazon’s total planned investment in expanding and supporting AI and cloud infrastructure to over $21 billion between 2026 and 2030. This will expand data center capacity in both the Mumbai and Hyderabad Regions, giving Indian organizations access to hundreds of AI and cloud capabilities.
