BMW Unveils Updated M4 Competition with Enhanced Power and Features
New Delhi: To elevate its position in the competitive sports car segment, BMW has introduced a new look for the M4 Competition. The updated model includes increased engine power, additional features and refined lighting options.
Visual enhancements include new lights at both ends, with the rear lights incorporating the innovative glass fibre bundle technology seen on the limited-run BMW M4 CSL. These updates contribute to giving the 4 Series and M4 a fresh and distinctive look.
Under the hood, the M4 Competition gets a power boost with its twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine now delivering 530hp, up from the previous 510hp. Although the torque output remains the same at 650Nm, the peak torque remains the same for an extended RPM range, thereby increasing overall performance.
In terms of drivetrain options, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version has been discontinued, leaving the four-wheel-drive xDrive version as the only option. xDrive models can deliver torque exclusively to the rear wheels when stability control is deactivated. Despite the increase in power, on-paper performance figures remain consistent, with a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.5 seconds for the coupe and 3.7 seconds for the cabriolet.
Inside the cabin, the M4 retains the dual-screen infotainment and instrumentation display, now updated to software version 8.5. Ambient lighting has been enhanced, offering a choice of nine colours that react dynamically to various stimuli, such as an open door or an incoming phone call.
The facelifted BMW M4 Competition is expected to be launched in India later this year, marking an evolution in the performance and design of the iconic sports car.
