Maruti Suzuki's Ambitious Plan: Eight New Models in the Next Four Years

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki, in pursuit of its Vision 3.0, aims to double production capacity to four million units, triple exports and expand its vehicle lineup from 17 to 28 models by the end of the decade. As part of this aggressive strategy, the company plans to introduce eight new models over the next three to four years, with a diverse range of powertrains including EV, hybrid, petrol, CNG, flex-fuel and ethanol-powered vehicles. New Maruti Swift, Dezire (YED): The next-generation Swift will arrive before the Dzire, with a focus on re-establishing the Swift brand as a sporty hatch. Both models will have an evolutionary design, upgraded interiors and the new Z-series 1.2-litre petrol engine.

Maruti’s XUV700, Alcazar rival (Y17): A three-row version of the Grand Vitara (codenamed Y17) is under development, which will be produced from the new Kharkhoda plant. Expected powertrains include petrol, Toyota hybrid and CNG options, targeting a competitive price range against models like the XUV700, Alcazar and Safari.

Maruti’s Punch-rivaling SUV (Y43): Targeting the sub-four-metre SUV market, this new model will compete with cars like the Punch and Exeter, positioned below the Brezza. It aims to meet the growing demand for compact SUVs and is expected to be launched around October 2026.

Suzuki Spacia-based MPV (YDB): An all-new compact MPV, tentatively named Spacia, is expected to debut in 2026. Taking inspiration from the Japanese K-car, this MPV could offer an extended version, which will provide competition to compact people movers. Like Triber.

Maruti EVX SUV (YY8): Maruti’s entry into the electric vehicle segment will be a mid-size electric SUV that will challenge models like the Hyundai Creta. The EVX will be built on a special electric platform, offer a five-seat layout and will be exported to global markets such as Japan and Europe.

Maruti Electric MPV (YMC): Another product born from the born-EV architecture, this all-new electric MPV is scheduled to launch in September 2026. It is expected to share components with the EVX, including EV powertrain and battery options.

Suzuki EWX-Based Small Electric Hatch (K-EV): Maruti is working on a low-cost EV that is based on a bespoke electric platform (K-EV). The first model inspired by the EWX concept, with an emphasis on localization for competitive pricing, is anticipated around 2026-27.
