'Kill' Launches First Song 'Kaawaa Kaawaa': A Vibrant Punjabi-Pop Fusion

Chandigarh: After its groundbreaking premiere at the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival last year, the highly anticipated action thriller ‘Kill,’ starring Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi, Harsh Chhaya, and Tanya Maniktala, has recently unveiled its official trailer to widespread acclaim. Adding to the excitement, the film has now released its first song titled ‘Kaawaa Kaawaa.’ Composed and penned by Shashwat Sachdev, this electrifying Punjabi track features vocals by Sudhir Yaduvanshi, Sanj V, and Shashwat Sachdev.

Celebrating Punjabi music with a blend of pop, ‘Kaawaa Kaawaa’ showcases debutant Lakshya in a gripping fight sequence. The song narrates the story of army commando Amrit (played by Lakshya), racing against time on a New Delhi-bound train to reach his true love, Tulika (played by Tanya Maniktala). Along the journey, he encounters unforeseen challenges. ‘Kaawaa Kaawaa’ sets a vibrant tone with its energetic beats and poignant lyrics like, “Tere layi Ladd jaana jagg saara, Tere layi har sitam nu, har zulam seene pe lejavan.”

Producer Guneet Monga Kapoor expressed her thoughts on the song, stating, “A film like ‘Kill,’ filled with such intensity and emotion, demanded a matching song. ‘Kaawaa Kaawaa’ is an adrenaline-pumping anthem fused with traditional Punjabi beats. Both the film and the lyrics resonate deeply with the lengths one would go to fight for their love. I’m truly grateful to Shashwat, Sudhir, and Sanj for our hero’s war chant.”

Producer Karan Johar added, ” ‘Kaawaa Kaawaa’ is one of my favorite tracks from the film. It’s intense and gets you moving instantly! Shashwat, Sudhir, and Sanj have brought the song to life beautifully with a mix of Punjabi and pop. I’m eagerly awaiting everyone’s response to it.”

Lyricist and music composer Shashwat Sachdev commented, “It has been an honor to compose music for this film. I am thankful to the filmmakers for their trust in me. Collaborating with Sudhir and Sanj has been a fantastic experience—they are both immensely talented. Together, we have crafted a contemporary Punjabi anthem infused with pop elements, and I look forward to hearing everyone’s feedback.”

Written and directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment by Karan Johar, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Apoorva Mehta, and Achin Jain, ‘Kill’ is scheduled for release on July 5, 2024. The film garnered global acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2023, where it was the first runner-up for the People’s Choice Award: Midnight Madness.
