NASA Monitors Three Asteroids Passing Close to Earth This Week—No Danger Anticipated
New Delhi: NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has reported that three notable asteroids will approach Earth between August 10 and August 12. While these space rocks will come relatively close, they pose no threat to our planet.
The largest of the trio, an asteroid measuring approximately 610 feet in diameter—similar to the height of a tall skyscraper—will make its nearest approach on August 10. It will pass within 5.6 million kilometers of Earth. Despite its size, NASA has assured that this flyby is entirely safe.
On the same day, asteroid 2024 PK1, which is about 110 feet across, will come within 6.4 million kilometers of Earth. Although smaller, this asteroid will also pass by without any risk.
The third asteroid, 2024 ON2, will make its closest approach on August 12. Measuring around 120 feet in diameter, it will come within 6.8 million kilometers of Earth. Like the other two, it poses no danger.
NASA and other space agencies are closely monitoring these asteroids to ensure that Earth remains safe. Current observations confirm that all three will pass by harmlessly, with no expected impact. These celestial visitors will continue their journey through space without altering their trajectories or causing any harm to our planet.
