Massive Toyota Recall: 1.12 Million Cars Affected by Air Bag Concern https://thetimesofhindustan.com/massive-toyota-recall-1-12-million-cars-affected-by-air-bag-concern/ https://thetimesofhindustan.com/massive-toyota-recall-1-12-million-cars-affected-by-air-bag-concern/#respond Thu, 21 Dec 2023 12:04:18 +0000 https://thetimesofhindustan.com/?p=1428 New Delhi: Toyota Motor has announced a global recall of 1.12 million vehicles due to a potential issue with the air bag system. The recall, affecting vehicles from 2020 to 2022, includes models such as Avalon, Camry, Corolla, RAV4, and Lexus ES250, ES300H, ES350, RX350, Highlander, and Sienna Hybrid. The problem lies in a sensor that could cause the air bags to malfunction and not deploy correctly in the event of an accident.

Of the total recall, approximately 1 million vehicles are in the United States alone. The specific concern revolves around the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensors, which are responsible for detecting the presence and size of occupants in the front seat. These sensors play a crucial role in preventing air bags from deploying if there is a small adult or child seated in the front. Toyota dealerships will conduct inspections and, if necessary, replace the malfunctioning sensors.

Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to be notified about the recall starting in February. This recall follows a previous recall in July 2022, which involved 3,500 RAV4 vehicles in the United States. The earlier recall addressed a potential issue related to internal parts that could interfere with the OCS sensors, leading to inaccurate occupant detection.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration highlights the importance of frontal air bags in saving lives, having reportedly saved over 50,000 lives in the US over the past three decades. The motivation behind updating the sensors is to ensure that the air bags deploy appropriately based on the occupants’ size and position, as previous air bag models had a uniform deployment pattern for all individuals. This uniformity caused injuries and, in rare cases, even fatalities among children, small adults, and unbelted passengers who were in close proximity to the air bag upon deployment.

Lamborghini Revuelto launched in India at Rs 8.89 crore https://thetimesofhindustan.com/lamborghini-revuelto-launched-in-india-at-rs-8-89-crore/ https://thetimesofhindustan.com/lamborghini-revuelto-launched-in-india-at-rs-8-89-crore/#respond Wed, 06 Dec 2023 15:31:58 +0000 https://thetimesofhindustan.com/?p=1295 New Delhi: The Lamborghini Revuelto, unveiled globally in March, has now been launched in India with an eye-watering price tag of Rs 8.89 crore (ex-showroom). The Indian market will see only a limited number of units, and deliveries are set to commence in the coming weeks.

As Automobili Lamborghini’s inaugural super sports V12 hybrid plug-in high-performance electrified vehicle in India, the Revuelto is built on an innovative carbon frame concept. It boasts a fresh combustion engine with three electric motors and a double-clutch gearbox, a debut for a 12-cylinder Lamborghini model.

The vehicle’s foundation is a novel ‘monofuselage’ chassis inspired by aeronautics, featuring a monocoque constructed entirely from multi-technology carbon fibre. The front structure incorporates forged composites, a unique material comprising short carbon fibres infused with resin. Notably, it stands out as the first super sports car featuring a 100% carbon fibre front structure.

Under the hood, the Revuelto sports a naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 mid-mounted engine paired with three electric motors, one of which is integrated into the new double-clutch eight-speed gearbox. The revolutionary L545 engine represents Lamborghini’s lightest and most powerful 12-cylinder engine, producing 825CV of maximum power (ICE) and 725Nm of peak torque (ICE). The combined torque from the internal combustion engine (ICE) and three electric motors delivers an impressive total of 1,015CV. The vehicle accelerates from 0-100kmph in just 2.5 seconds and boasts a top speed exceeding 350kmph.

The Lamborghini Revuelto introduces a novel human-machine interface system featuring three displays: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch central display, and an additional 9.1-inch display. The design of the new steering wheel is inspired by the interaction with Squadra Corse race car steering wheels. Integration with Amazon Alexa allows users to control various vehicle functions, such as climate, navigation, and media, through voice commands.

Equipped with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), the Revuelto incorporates active lane departure warning (ALDW), lane change warning (LCW), adaptive cruise control (ACC), and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA), among other features. The combination of cutting-edge technology, high-performance capabilities, and a striking design positions the Lamborghini Revuelto as a notable addition to the Indian supercar landscape.

“We are excited to present the Revuelto to our Lamborghini customers and fans in India. Being one of the fastest growing markets for Lamborghini, we continue to witness a strong demand from India in the Asia Pacific region. The new Revuelto sets the stage for an era of super sports car evolution in the hybridisation phase, and it is also a significant milestone for the brand as we commemorate Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary,” said Francesco Scardaoni, Region Director, Asia Pacific, Automobili Lamborghini.

“I believe that this car is an interpretation of the brand going beyond, and how we revolutionised the automotive world with our iconic V12. This model will excite not just the loyal V12 customers in this region but also all clients who want to own a piece of the first Lamborghini Super Sports V12 Hybrid HPEV,” he added.

This revamped version is not merely a cosmetic enhancement but a comprehensive update introducing a range of new features and technical improvements.

The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift will retain its diverse engine options, offering a trio of powertrains. These include an 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine, a more potent 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a robust 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. The existing transmission pairings are expected to continue, encompassing a 5-speed manual for the petrol variant, a 6-speed iMT, and 6-speed DCT for the turbo-petrol, and a 6-speed iMT and 6-speed AT for the diesel model.

Externally, the Sonet facelift is poised to showcase a reimagined front bumper, a new Kia front grille bordered by LED headlights featuring refreshed contouring, and redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels.
