37 Amrita Researchers recognized among World’s Top 2% Scientists in Stanford’s 2025 Rankings
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has once again been honoured on the global stage of science and
innovation. Thirty-seven of its faculty members have been featured in Stanford University’s 2025 list
of the world’s top 2% scientists, marking the sixth consecutive year that Amrita scholars have earned
this recognition.
The Stanford–Elsevier global database is considered one of the most respected measures of scientific
achievement. It recognizes researchers based on rigorous metrics such as the H-index, citations, and
composite indicators of impact, shining a light on those whose work has advanced knowledge in
meaningful ways.
This year’s recognition is spread across three categories:
13 Amrita faculty were honored for their career-long impact, acknowledging a lifetime of
contributions to science.
36 faculty were recognized for their single-year impact (2024–25), reflecting their recent work
across diverse disciplines.
12 scholars achieved the rare distinction of dual recognition, appearing in both categories for their
sustained contributions
Among those recognized, four are distinguished Amrita alumni — Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh,
Dr. Raghu Raman, Dr. Prema Nedungadi, and Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam.
Speaking on this achievement, Dr. P. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa
Vidyapeetham, said, “Behind every number is a story of years of dedication, inquiry, and
perseverance. To see 36 of our faculty recognized on a global platform like Stanford’s list is deeply
inspiring. It reflects not only their personal excellence but also Amrita’s ethos of research guided by
compassion and a commitment to solving society’s most pressing challenges.”
Amrita’s recognized scientists come from a wide range of fields, including medicine, engineering,
computing, business, public health, biotechnology, dentistry, and physical sciences. Their work spans
from cutting-edge medical innovations to sustainable technologies and socially impactful discoveries.
The list is categorised as follows:
Career-long impact: Honouring lifetime achievements in research. From 230,333 scientists
worldwide, 13 Amrita faculty were acknowledged.
Single-year impact: Recognising contributions made in 2024–25. From 236,313 scientists
worldwide, 36 Amrita faculty were included.
Dual recognition: 12 faculty members achieved distinction in both categories, reflecting their
sustained and ongoing contributions to global research.
