600hp Jeep Wagoneer S electric SUV revealed

New Delhi: Jeep has unveiled the Wagoneer S, its upcoming electric SUV to be launched globally later this year. Built on the new STLA large platform designed for 4.7 to 4.9-meter-long electric vehicles (EVs), the Wagner S is expected to bring a blend of powerful performance and advanced features to the EV market.

Interior Design and Features:

The Wagoneer S interior features a futuristic design with four screens spread across the dashboard. These include a digital instrument screen, a central infotainment screen, a climate control screen and a passenger entertainment screen. Notably, the interior minimizes physical buttons, opting for a touchscreen-centric approach, while the steering wheel retains essential controls. The rotary drive selector and driving mode selector are located on the centre console, offering five drive modes: Snow, Sand, Eco, Sport and Auto. Additional features include a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, a 360-degree camera, park assist, lane-keeping assist, heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient light adaptation, a panoramic sunroof and massage function for the front seats.

Exterior and Design:

The exterior design pays homage to the Wagoneer SUV, featuring large muscular proportions, square wheel arches and the iconic illuminated 7-slat grille. A full-width LED bar has been included at both the front and rear of the SUV, adding to its distinctive styling. As an electric SUV, it may include a frunk for additional storage.

Powertrain and Platform:

Built on the STLA Large platform, the Wagoneer S is part of Jeep’s commitment to electric mobility. Although specific powertrain details have not been revealed yet, the SUV is expected to deliver 600hp, which can accelerate from 0 to 97kph in around 3.5 seconds. The STLA Large platform is designed to accommodate a variety of battery packs ranging from 85 to 118 kWh, providing flexibility in configurations such as front-wheel, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Jeep Compass EV:

Although the availability of the Wagoneer S in India is unconfirmed, Jeep India is planning to launch an electric version of the Compass in 2026. The model will be built on the STLA Medium platform, offering front-wheel and four-wheel drive layouts, along with a claimed range of over 700 km.

Jeep’s entry into the electric SUV market with models like the Wagoneer S reflects the brand’s commitment to adopting sustainable mobility solutions.
