Tesla Cybertruck Arrives Late with Higher Price and Lower Range, Disappointing Customers
New Delhi: Exciting news in the tech world: the long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck is finally here, albeit two years behind schedule. But there’s a catch – it’s pricier than expected and offers a lower driving range, leaving many early adopters feeling let down.
The Cybertruck’s delayed arrival puts it in direct competition with popular pickups like Ford’s F150 Lightning, Rivian Automotive’s R1T, and General Motors’ Hummer EV. Despite the hype, some are disappointed by the steep price hike – starting at $60,990 (roughly Rs. 51 lakh), over 50 percent more than initially promised by CEO Elon Musk back in 2019.
For Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who got his hands on one of the first Cybertrucks, the experience was mixed. While he praised its smooth drive and SUV-like feel, others, like Texas-based financial executive Christian Cook, feel betrayed by the higher price tag and lower range.
Analysts predict that the high price could lead to cancellations of pre-orders and suggest Tesla might need to adjust pricing to match demand. Despite its flashy design and bullet-proof stainless steel build, some experts question whether the Cybertruck can truly make Tesla a mass-market brand, especially given Musk’s recent controversies.
While Musk promises production rates of 250,000 Cybertrucks per year by 2025, analysts remain skeptical about Tesla’s financial outlook, especially with no new mass-market offerings until late 2025.
In essence, while the Cybertruck brings attention back to Tesla, its impact on the company’s financials remains uncertain. A brand refresh might be crucial for Tesla as it navigates challenges in the electric vehicle market and rising competition.
