Cyclone Warning To Kutch Residents Urged to Seek Safer Shelter
New Delhi: Authorities in Gujarat’s Kutch district are taking urgent measures to protect residents ahead of a potential cyclonic storm. The IMD has forecasted that a deep depression currently affecting the region may intensify into a cyclonic storm by Friday morning. In light of this, local officials are urging those living in huts and makeshift houses to seek safer shelter immediately.
Kutch Collector Amit Arora addressed the situation in a video message, specifically targeting residents in the vulnerable talukas of Abdasa, Mandvi, and Lakhpat. He advised individuals residing in weak or temporary structures to evacuate and find refuge in more secure locations, such as schools, temples, or other sturdy buildings. Arora stressed the urgency of the situation, pointing out that the approaching cyclone could bring heavy rainfall and strong winds, which pose significant risks to those in inadequate housing.
In addition to the evacuation directive, Arora appealed to the community to support each other during this critical time. He encouraged residents with secure homes to offer temporary shelter to neighbors who might be in need, fostering a cooperative effort to ensure everyone has a safe place until the storm passes.
The local administration is on high alert and is closely monitoring the evolving weather conditions. Residents are advised to heed the warnings and take swift action to ensure their safety and the safety of their families. The proactive approach aims to mitigate the potential impact of the storm and safeguard the community from its adverse effects.
