Cars under Rs 5 lakh in India

New Delhi: Gone are the days when one could find numerous cars priced below Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The current scenario reveals a significant shift as cars have seen a surge in prices due to escalating input costs. However, amidst these changes, three vehicles still manage to stay within the affordable range. These models include the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, and the Renault Kwid. It’s worth mentioning that not all variants of these cars fall below the Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. The increasing expenses associated with passenger vehicles (PVs) have indeed contributed to their escalated prices. Let’s explore more about these comparatively economical options.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

Both variants are equipped with a 1.0-litre K10C petrol engine, delivering a maximum power of 67PS and a peak torque of 89Nm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission (MT).

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Among the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso lineup, there is only one variant priced below Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). That variant is the Std variant, available at Rs 4.26 lakh (ex-showroom). Similar to the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, the S-Presso Std variant is equipped with the 1.0-litre K10C petrol engine, which is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission (MT).

Renault Kwid

Previously, the Renault Kwid offered a 0.8-litre petrol engine option, but currently, it is exclusively available with a 1.0-litre petrol engine. Among the variants of the Kwid, two of them fall below the Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) threshold. These include the RXE variant priced at Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and the RXL(O) variant priced at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom).Both of these variants are equipped with a 1.0-litre SCe petrol engine, delivering a maximum power of 68PS and a peak torque of 91Nm.
