New Delhi: A special Air India flight successfully repatriated 205 individuals, including six infants, from Dhaka to New Delhi on Wednesday morning. An official reported that the chartered flight, utilizing an A321 neo aircraft, took off from New Delhi late Tuesday without passengers. The mission was carried out on short notice and despite significant infrastructure challenges at Dhaka airport, demonstrating the urgency and importance of the operation.

The flight brought back 199 adults and six infants, underscoring the critical nature of the mission. Following this special repatriation effort, Air India announced the resumption of its scheduled operations, with two daily flights from New Delhi to Dhaka beginning on Wednesday. This service reinstatement occurs amid political unrest in Bangladesh, which has been gripped by uncertainty following protests over job quotas. These protests led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has since left the country.

In addition to Air India’s operations, other Indian airlines such as Vistara and IndiGo have also maintained their scheduled flights to Dhaka. Vistara operates daily services from Mumbai and three weekly flights from Delhi, while IndiGo offers one daily flight each from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, along with two daily flights from Kolkata. Both airlines had previously canceled their Tuesday flights to Dhaka due to the volatile situation.

The continuation of these flights is crucial for maintaining essential connectivity between India and Bangladesh during a time of instability. The airlines’ efforts reflect their commitment to passenger safety and their adaptability in managing operations under challenging circumstances. These flights provide a vital link for travelers and ensure that necessary movement between the two nations can continue smoothly.
