Apple’s Foldable iPhone Launch Delayed to 2027, Engineers Shift Focus

Apple Foldable iPhone

New Delhi: Apple’s much-anticipated foldable iPhone is facing a delay, now expected to hit the shelves in 2027. Previously, it was rumored to debut in late 2026. This shift in timeline suggests that Apple is putting significant effort into perfecting its foldable technology.

Reports indicate that engineers who were initially working on the Vision Pro have now been reassigned to the foldable iPhone project. This move underscores Apple’s commitment to advancing its foldable smartphone endeavors.

The delay seems to stem from logistical considerations, particularly in ensuring a seamless supply of foldable displays. Despite this setback, major component manufacturers are reportedly sticking to the original schedule, indicating a robust supply chain.

Apple appears to be in the early stages of prototyping two clamshell-style foldable iPhone models, featuring external displays of 6 inches and main displays of 8 inches. Discussions with suppliers like LG Display and Samsung Display hint at the company’s serious intent.

Moreover, Apple’s interest in foldable technology extends beyond smartphones. A foldable iPad with a sizable 20-inch display is also rumored to be in development.

The tech giant has been actively securing patents related to foldable displays and has engaged suppliers in Asia for components. This concerted effort underscores Apple’s ambition to lead the foldable device market.

While the delay may disappoint eager consumers, it reflects Apple’s meticulous approach to innovation. As the company continues to refine its foldable technology, anticipation for its eventual release in 2027 is sure to build.
