Bajaj Ventures into Hydrogen-Powered Two-Wheelers
New Delhi: Bajaj is set to venture into the realm of green vehicles with plans to develop hydrogen-powered two-wheelers and three-wheelers. This move marks a significant step towards sustainable mobility for the Pune-based manufacturer.
The initiative will be spearheaded by the newly established company, Chetak Technologies Limited (CTL). While specific details about the project are currently limited, it is evident that Bajaj has initiated feasibility studies to explore the potential of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
This isn’t the first time Bajaj has embraced innovative mobility solutions. Over the years, the company has introduced various initiatives, including LPG-powered scooters and the Qute quadricycle. Notably, Bajaj is set to launch its maiden CNG-powered motorcycle in May, further reinforcing its commitment to pioneering eco-friendly transportation solutions in India.
Abraham Joseph, appointed as MD of CTL, brings a wealth of experience to the table, having played a pivotal role in the development of successful Bajaj two-wheelers like Pulsar, Dominar, and Platina. Under his leadership, CTL will not only focus on hydrogen-powered vehicles but also play a crucial role in the development and sale of future electric two-wheelers for both Bajaj and KTM.
Moreover, plans are in place to manufacture Gas Gas products under the CTL umbrella, indicating the company’s ambition to diversify its offerings in the automotive sector. With these strategic moves, CTL is poised to emerge as one of the leading automotive companies in the country, potentially making a significant impact on the future of sustainable transportation.
