Cyclone Michaung Hits Andhra Coast: Latest Highlights on 110 kmph Winds and Heavy Downpour.

The severe cyclonic storm made landfall near Bapatla district, Andhra Pradesh, between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm, unleashing gales with speeds ranging from 90 to 100 kilometres per hour.Most of Chennai remains submerged due to heavy rain under the impact of ‘Michaung’, which has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm. The storm, currently over Bay of Bengal, is likely to head towards the Andhra Pradesh coast. Heavy inundation has been reported from low-lying areas in Chennai while three people have died and the airport has been closed till Tuesday morning. The cyclone is expected to make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam early morning tomorrow around 5 am.

Agromet advisories have been issued for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha to address the challenges posed by the cyclone.
Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, MK Stalin, stated that relief measures were being executed on a war-footing, with 61,666 relief camps established across nine affected districts.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Deployment:

A total of 29 NDRF teams have been deployed along the Andhra coast to mitigate the impact of Cyclone Michaung.
Minister Amit Shah assured adequate NDRF deployment and additional teams for further assistance.
