New Delhi: MG Motor India is set to unveil the MG Hector Blackstorm edition in the country on April 10, expanding its lineup of Blackstorm variants that already includes the MG Astor and MG Gloster.
The MG Hector Blackstorm will feature striking red accents both inside and outside the cabin. Notable enhancements include LED headlamps and taillamps, a blacked-out grille and alloy wheels, and an all-black interior with black upholstery highlighted by red accents. It will also come equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument panel, and a panoramic sunroof.
Priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Hector competes with popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Harrier in its segment. The Hector is known for its spacious dimensions and competitive pricing.
Under the hood, the MG Hector offers two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 143PS of power and 250Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The petrol engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic, while the diesel variant comes exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Recent data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) indicates that MG has seen a growth in market share, increasing from 1.15% in FY23 to 1.26% in FY24. The carmaker’s retail sales also rose by 18.82% year-on-year, reaching 49,737 units in the last fiscal year.
In addition to the Astor, Hector, and Gloster SUVs, MG also offers electric vehicles like the Comet EV and ZS EV. Among these, the Hector remains the top-selling model and was MG’s inaugural vehicle in the Indian market.
