T20I

New Delhi: In a rain-impacted second T20I in Pallekele, India emerged victorious by seven wickets over Sri Lanka, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The win was achieved using the DLS method, with Ravi Bishnoi’s impressive performance being a key factor. Bishnoi took 3 wickets for 26 runs, helping to limit Sri Lanka to a total of 161 for 9.

The match faced significant interruptions due to rain, resulting in a revised target of 78 runs in 8 overs for India. Despite the delays, the Indian team successfully reached the target in just 6.3 overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal playing a crucial role by scoring 30 runs off 15 balls. His quick innings ensured India stayed on course despite the early disruptions.

Sri Lanka, batting first, struggled after being put in by India. Kusal Perera was the standout performer for Sri Lanka with a well-made 53 off 34 balls, while Pathum Nissanka contributed 32 off 24 balls. However, Sri Lanka’s innings faltered in the later stages, with the team collapsing from a solid position of 130 for 2 to finish at 161 for 9.

Indian bowlers delivered strong performances in the latter part of Sri Lanka’s innings. In addition to Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh (2/24), Hardik Pandya (2/23), and Axar Patel (2/30) each claimed two wickets, significantly undermining Sri Lanka’s batting efforts.

With this decisive victory, India has secured the series, leaving Sri Lanka with little chance of making a comeback in the final T20I.
