Jaguar Shifts Focus to SUVs, Ceases Production of XE, XF, and F-Type

New Delhi: Famous British carmaker Jaguar is undergoing a significant change in its production lineup. The company has announced its decision to stop production of three of its models – the XE, XF and F-Type – at its Castle Bromwich factory in Birmingham by June. Instead, Jaguar will now focus solely on SUVs, with models like the I-Pace, E-Pace and F-Pace becoming its primary offerings in international markets by 2024.

This strategic shift is in line with Jaguar’s efforts to adapt to changing market demands and streamline its product portfolio. While orders for the XE and XF will continue through June, customers will not be able to customize their configurations, as these models are being built to set specifications in the final weeks of production.

Jaguar’s decision reflects the industry’s broader trend toward SUVs and electric vehicles (EVs). In line with this trend, the company plans to introduce new models from 2025, starting with an all-electric four-seat GT car. This will be followed by a luxury SUV and a large sedan, which will be based on Jaguar’s new JEA platform.

The Castle Bromwich plant, which was originally intended to produce the electric XJ, will now focus on manufacturing the upcoming EV. Despite this change, the site retains historical significance as a former manufacturer of Spitfire and Lancaster bombers during the Second World War.

In India, Jaguar offers a limited number of models including the F-Pace, I-Pace EV and the F-Type. The decision to discontinue the XE and XF reflects Jaguar’s commitment to adapt its lineup to suit the preferences of the Indian market.

Overall, Jaguar’s decision to prioritize SUVs and EVs underlines its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry. As consumer preferences evolve, Jaguar is focused on providing vehicles that meet the needs of today’s drivers while embracing future technologies.
