Jammu and Kashmir Police Detain 50 Suspects in Reasi Terror Attack Investigation

New Delhi:  Jammu and Kashmir Police announced the arrest of 50 suspects in connection with the recent terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi. The attack, which occurred on Sunday in the Kanda area, resulted in the deaths of nine people, including a minor, and injured 41 others. This development marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

Following a thorough probe by the Kanda Area Police Station, the arrests were made, and search operations have been expanded to the remote regions of Arnas and Mahore, areas known for militant activity in the mid-90s. These efforts aim to gather further evidence and apprehend any terrorists hiding in these areas.

A senior police officer noted that significant leads have been uncovered, aiding in the identification and capture of those potentially involved in orchestrating the attack. The police remain committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of all residents and visitors.

The attack occurred on Sunday when terrorists targeted a bus carrying 53 pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. The incident took place near Teryath village in the Poni area of Reasi district, causing the bus to fall into a deep ditch. Police suspect 2-3 terrorists, including a local accomplice, were involved.

SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma, expressed the community’s shock and grief following the incident and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The ongoing investigation involves the National Investigation Agency (NIA), State Investigation Agency (SIA), and forensic experts. Authorities are also tracking potential routes used by the terrorists and identifying those who provided them with accommodation.
