New Delhi: Jharkhand Government has appealed to Navy for help in locating missing aircraft that went missing shortly after taking off from Sonari aerodrome in Jamshedpur on Tuesday. Despite extensive search operations, the aircraft, which was carrying a pilot and a trainee pilot, remains untraceable as of Wednesday, according to officials.

The two-seater aircraft, belonging to a private aviation company, vanished from radar not long after departure, prompting an urgent search operation. The Seraikela-Kharswan district administration has now requested assistance from the Indian Navy to bolster the search efforts. Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla stated that the involvement of the Navy was deemed necessary due to the difficult terrain and the suspected crash site.

Authorities suspect that the aircraft might have crashed into the Chandil dam, located within the district. The dense and rugged landscape surrounding the dam has posed significant challenges for local search teams. Since Tuesday, local police, disaster management teams, and aviation experts have been scouring the area, but no trace of the aircraft has been discovered.

The Indian Navy’s participation is expected to enhance the search operation, bringing advanced technology such as sonar equipment and specialized divers to the effort. The Navy’s expertise in underwater searches is seen as crucial, especially with the possibility that the aircraft may be submerged in the dam.

This incident has sparked concerns about the safety protocols of private aviation companies in the region. Families of the missing pilots are anxiously awaiting news as the search continues. Further updates will be provided as the operation progresses and more information becomes available.
