Kia EV9 Crowned 2024 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year
New Delhi: Kia Motors, known for its innovative design and engineering, won the prestigious Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year award for the second consecutive year with its revolutionary Kia EV9. The award was announced on International Women’s Day after votes from 75 female motoring journalists representing 52 countries, including Renuka Kripalani of Autocar India. Out of 63 cars evaluated, the Kia EV9 emerged victorious, cementing its position as a game-changer in the automotive industry.
Autocar India Consulting Editor (Video) Renuka Kripalani praised the EV9’s ground-breaking features, saying, “This is the second year in a row that Kia is taking home the top honor in the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year. The EV9 has changed Game in the segment pushing design and engineering forward. Great features like 180-degree swivel seats that provide a lounge-like feel add the wow factor. Roomy and versatile, the EV9 also drives well. Once again, “Kia has put together a great package that’s hard to make a mistake.”
The Kia EV9 also won in the Best Urban Car category, highlighting its versatility and appeal. The EV9, a fully electric SUV, boasts bold styling curated by former BMW stylist Karim Habib, including a three-row cabin and multiple seating layouts. With three powertrain options and cutting-edge features like bi-directional and ultra-fast charging capabilities, the EV9 competes with industry giants like the Audi Q8 e-tron and the BMW iX.
Women Worldwide Car of the Year prides itself as the only awards organization worldwide composed entirely of female motoring journalists. Founded in 2009 by New Zealand-based journalist Sandy Myhre, the organization aims to recognize excellence in the automotive industry from a female perspective. Grant Thornton, operating out of Auckland, New Zealand, certified the voting process, ensuring transparency and integrity in selecting winners.
