Mercedes-Benz Adds AMG GLC 43 Coupé and CLE 300 Cabriolet to Its Indian Top-End Lineup
New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India pioneered the luxury car market in India, completing 30 years of Indian operations in 2024. Mercedes-Benz’s world-class production facility set up in 2009, is spread over 100 acres in Chakan near Pune. Mercedes-Benz India is part of Mercedes-Benz’s Global Production Network and plays an important role in the CKD/MVP production network. The production facility carries an investment of more than INR 3000 crores and has the largest installed production capacity for any luxury carmaker in India.
Mercedes-Benz India also has the largest network spread amongst any luxury carmaker, with over 125 touchpoints. Through the exclusive AMG Performance Centres, the AMG performance sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz also boasts of a strong retail network presence in the country. Mercedes-Benz India has a robust product portfolio comprising the locally produced A-Class, C-Class, E-Class Long Wheelbase, S-Class, and Mercedes Maybach S 580 limousine, along with the flagship luxury electric vehicle– EQS 580 sedan.
The ‘Made in India’ SUV range starts with the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS range of luxury SUVs. The Completely Built imported cars portfolio (CBU) includes the G 400d, GLS Maybach and the exciting AMG range comprising the AMG A 45 S to the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance. Mercedes-Benz also pioneered the luxury EV segment in India and boasts of a strong portfolio, including the ‘Made in India’ EQS 580, EQB SUV, EQE 500 4MATIC SUV and EQA 250+ (CBU). Mercedes-Benz India introduced the innovative customer-centric ‘direct to customer’ business model in India, as one of the first markets to roll-out this business model, redefining customer experience.
Mercedes-Benz achieved its highest fiscal sales ever in India, with 18,123 units sold in FY 2023-24 (FY 2022-23: 16, 497 units; +10%) and highest-ever H1 (2024) in India with record sales of 9262 units (H1 23: 8528; +9%). For 2024, Mercedes-Benz’s motto is ‘DESIRE to Exceed’. The roadmap of the company comprises launch of new desirable products, investment in manufacturing operations, strategic expansion of retail network and community development initiatives.
The launch of the CLE 300 Cabriolet AMG Line and the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé by Mercedes-Benz in India introduces two high-performance, luxury vehicles designed to cater to both performance enthusiasts and lifestyle seekers.
The CLE 300 Cabriolet AMG Line offers the exhilarating experience of open-top motoring with a focus on elegance and comfort. It features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 258 hp, combined with a 48v mild hybrid system. The car is equipped with advanced technologies like AIRCAP® and AIRSCARF® for a comfortable open-air experience, even in less favorable weather. The sophisticated interior boasts a 12.3-inch digital driver display and 11.9-inch central display, alongside dynamic ambient lighting and premium materials.
On the other hand, the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé stands out as a performance-oriented SUV, featuring a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 421 hp, enhanced by an electric exhaust gas turbocharger. This model is the first in India to embody the ‘One Man, One Engine’ philosophy, emphasizing its handcrafted engineering pedigree. The vehicle offers a combination of dynamic design and cutting-edge motorsports technology, making it the most powerful in its segment.
Both models are aimed at reinforcing Mercedes-Benz’s presence in India’s luxury market, appealing to customers who value both performance and sophisticated design.
