New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India is accelerating its electric vehicle (EV) rollout with the upcoming launch of the EQA on July 8th, 2024. This facelifted model marks the German automaker’s fourth EV offering in India, solidifying their commitment to double their EV portfolio to six. The EQA will join the ranks of the EQB SUV, EQE SUV, and EQS, further electrifying the luxury car segment.

The EQA directly competes with established players like the BMW X1, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the Kia EV6. Unveiled in August 2023, the EQA boasts a striking design featuring Mercedes-Benz’s signature illuminated star grille and a sleek light bar connecting the headlamps. The design language echoes its sibling, the EQB SUV. Stepping inside, one can expect a familiar Mercedes touch with a likely 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully-digital instrument cluster, and a three-spoke steering wheel.

Specific battery pack details for the Indian market remain under wraps. However, the global EQA offers two battery options and four variants: EQA 250, EQA 250+, EQA 300 4Matic, and EQA 350 4Matic. Considering the success of the EQB’s 66.5kWh battery powering dual electric motors, a similar configuration might be implemented for the EQA in India. This setup delivers a combined output of 289 bhp and 520 Nm of torque, translating to a claimed WLTP range of up to 423 kilometers for the EQB 350 4Matic variant. The official specifications for the Indian EQA will likely be revealed closer to the launch date.

The arrival of the EQA signifies Mercedes-Benz India’s commitment to leading the electric revolution in the premium car segment. With its distinctive design, advanced technology, and anticipated impressive range, the EQA is poised to be a compelling option for environmentally conscious luxury car buyers in India.
