Next-Generation Honda Amaze Set to Launch this Festive Season
New Delhi: Honda is preparing to introduce the next version of its smallest sedan, the Amaze, later this year. The third-generation Amaze will replace the existing model, which has been in the market since 2018, and is expected to hit showrooms by Diwali 2024.
The upcoming Amaze will ride on a new platform shared with the City and Elevate models, albeit with modifications to accommodate the shorter wheelbase, aiming to keep the overall length under four metres. This strategic move by Honda aims to streamline its lineup by consolidating platforms, which will lead to economies of scale.
Although specific details about the exterior design of the new Amaze have been kept under wraps, sources say it will retain Honda’s signature stylish cues, reminiscent of the larger sedan models sold internationally. The design philosophy, inspired by the Accord in the past, is likely to continue with the third-generation Amaze.
Inside, expect a revised cabin layout with a larger touchscreen interface, likely similar to the setup seen in the Elevate. To optimize costs, the new Amaze is expected to share internal components with other Honda models available in India.
The familiar 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine carried over from the existing model will power the third-generation Amaze. This engine producing 90hp and 110Nm torque will be paired with 5-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox. Following Honda’s decision to discontinue diesel engines in India, the new Amaze will remain only with petrol engines.
Expected to debut in the second half of the year, possibly around the Diwali season, the new Honda Amaze will compete in the subcompact sedan segment against rivals like the upcoming Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor.
With refreshed styling, improved features and a petrol-only powertrain, the third-generation Honda Amaze aims to make a strong mark in its segment, offering buyers a compelling combination of style, performance and value.
