River Indie E-Scooter Gets Price Revision and Reopens Bookings with Exciting Features
New Delhi: River, an emerging player in the electric two-wheeler market, has announced a price revision for its first electric scooter, the Indy. Launched in 2023 at a starting price of Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the Indy has now seen a price hike of Rs 13,000, taking the revised ex-showroom price to Rs 1.38 lakh (Bengaluru). Notably, this prelaunch price is available exclusively to the first 1,000 customers in Bengaluru.
Despite the FAME II subsidy cut last year, which was expected to impact electric scooter prices, River has managed to limit the price increase to Rs 13,000, while maintaining an attractive offering for potential buyers.
The company has also reopened bookings for the Indi and invites new customers to experience its unique design and impressive features. Booking can be secured with an amount of Rs 2,500. Rivers temporarily halted bookings after an initial surge last year, allowing interested buyers to join the waiting list.
The River Indy distinguishes itself with a distinctive design, featuring a prominent square twin-beam LED headlight in the front apron. Unique elements include hard mounts for panniers, foot pegs for the front rider, crash guards extending from the front apron, a flat floor and a wide seat.
In terms of performance, the Indy is equipped with a 4 kWh battery pack paired with a 6.7 kWh electric motor. It delivers a peak torque of 26 Nm and achieves a top speed of 90 kmph. The River claims an impressive range of up to 120 km on a single charge, with 80% charging achieved in five hours using a standard charger.
While currently limited to Bengaluru, River plans to expand Indie’s availability to other cities in the coming months. The company recently inaugurated its first retail store in Bengaluru, further strengthening its presence in the electric two-wheeler market. With Indy’s unique design and attractive features, River aims to carve a niche for itself in the growing electric mobility segment.
