New Delhi: T20 World Cup 2024: India’s men’s cricket team advanced to the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after securing a seven-wicket victory over the USA in their third Group A match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday. With three wins from three matches, India tops Group A with six points.

Although cricket is relatively unknown to many Americans, the USA team, led by Monank Patel, had impressed by defeating Pakistan earlier in the tournament. This created high expectations for their match against India, often referred to as India versus ‘Mini India.’ However, in match No. 25 of the ICC event, India maintained their unbeaten streak, ending the USA’s run at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh made a significant impact by taking a wicket on the very first ball of the match, dismissing Shayan Jahangir for a golden duck. He also later dismissed Andries Gous, leading to the USA’s lowest powerplay score against India. Arshdeep, along with Jasprit Bumrah, effectively restricted the USA to 110-8 in their 20 overs.

In the chase, USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Despite these setbacks, Suryakumar Yadav (50*) and Shivam Dube (31*) stabilized the innings and guided India to victory, achieving the target in 18.2 overs. This win ensured India’s progression to the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup, showcasing their dominance in the tournament. The team’s consistent performance underlines their strong position as they move forward, aiming for the championship.
