Nicholas Pooran’s Explosive Batting Shines in Final Group C Match of T20 World Cup

New Delhi: West Indies Secure Dominant 104-Run Victory Over Afghanistan in a stellar display of batting, Nicholas Pooran led the West Indies to a resounding 104-run win over Afghanistan in their final Group C match of the T20 World Cup. Both teams had already secured a berth in the Super 8, but it was the two-time champions who showcased their batting dominance, posting a massive 218 for five.

Pooran was the standout performer, smashing 98 off 53 balls, including 8 sixes and 6 fours. His aggressive approach put Afghanistan on the back foot after they opted to bowl first, a decision that backfired spectacularly as the West Indies’ batting lineup took full advantage.

In their chase, Afghanistan could not handle the pressure of the steep target, collapsing to 114 all out in 16.2 overs. Ibrahim Zadran’s 38 was the only significant resistance against a disciplined West Indies bowling attack. Obed McCoy (3/14) and Akeal Hosein (2/21) were instrumental in dismantling the Afghan batting order.

With this comprehensive victory, the West Indies are set to face England in their Super 8 Group 2 match on June 20.
