Four terrorists affiliated to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group have been trapped in Udhampur.

New Delhi: A fierce gunfight broke out on Wednesday between security forces and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in the Basantgarh region of Udhampur district. Four heavily armed terrorists have been cornered in the area, and security personnel are engaged in a tense standoff.

Joint Operation Leads to Encounter in Udhampur Gunfight

The encounter unfolded after a joint search operation was initiated in Kathua, based on credible intelligence. The search team, comprising personnel from various security agencies, made contact with the terrorists near the Kathua-Basantgarh border. Following the encounter, the area has been cordoned off, and security forces have imposed a strict lockdown.

Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Involvement

The Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based terrorist organization, has been responsible for numerous deadly attacks in India, including the 2019 Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel. The group has been designated as a terrorist organization by India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries.

Ongoing Operation to Neutralize Terrorists

Security forces are continuing their operation to neutralize the terrorists and prevent them from carrying out further attacks. The encounter has raised concerns about the ongoing threat posed by terrorist organizations operating in the region.
