New Delhi: This week, Vivo introduced its flagship Vivo X00 series in India, and the standout device in the lineup is the Vivo X100 Pro –– which I had the opportunity to test for a few weeks. As intended by Vivo, the camera on this smartphone is its most striking feature. It delivers exceptionally remarkable photos, especially in the realms of portraits and sunsets. The credit for this goes to the Zeiss lens and Vivo’s custom V3 chip. Overall, the Vivo X100 Pro is a highly versatile smartphone. It boasts a 5,400 mAh battery, 16 GB RAM, and an 8T LTPO AMOLED display. In India, the smartphone retails for Rs 89,999. But is it truly worth its price tag? We have provided a detailed answer to that question in our review. However, before you proceed to the review, here is a brief overview of the phone in 5 key points.

Vivo X100 Pro: Display

The stunning Vivo X100 Pro showcases a gorgeous 6.78-inch screen equipped with an 8T LTPO AMOLED panel, boasting an impressive 120 Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the LTPO technology, the display dynamically adapts its refresh rate based on usage, resulting in improved power efficiency. Additionally, the screen offers remarkable brightness, reaching an astonishing 3,000 nits. Moreover, the display gracefully curves around the edges, providing not only an enhanced viewing experience but also a superior grip when handling the device.

Vivo X100: Design and build

The Vivo X100 Pro boasts an elegant and elongated form factor, ensuring a comfortable grip and effortless device handling. On the back of the Vivo X100 Pro, the most striking design aspect is the camera module, maintaining the circular camera design seen in the Vivo X90 series. The camera module features a sleek metal bezel that aims to replicate the sun’s halo, resulting in a thin bezel throughout with a slightly thicker bottom section. Personally, I find the slight variation in bezel thickness a bit bothersome, but it can easily be addressed with the included case that comes in the box.

Vivo X100 Pro: Performance and Battery life

Equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, the Vivo X100 Pro delivers excellent performance. Throughout the weeks of using the device, I encountered no lag while multitasking between multiple apps or even while playing games like Asphalt 9. The Funtouch OS 14 further enhances the device’s performance, offering a clean and bloatware-free user experience.

Although the Dimensity 9300 SoC competes closely with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in real-world performance, it slightly falls behind in terms of battery life. Sporting a 5,400 mAh battery, the Vivo X100 Pro didn’t provide an exceptionally impressive power backup. On a full charge, the device barely lasted me a day. With frequent usage of the camera app and intermittent usage of social media apps, the battery of the Vivo X100 Pro typically drained within 15 hours. Nevertheless, the phone redeems itself with its 100W fast charging support. Utilizing the included charger, the X100 Pro rapidly charges from 0 to 50 percent in approximately 15 minutes.

Vivo X100 Pro: Camera

The camera on the Vivo X100 Pro is highly impressive. As expected, the camera takes the spotlight on the Vivo X100 Pro, featuring a 50MP primary camera and a unique periscope zoom camera. The zoom camera is equipped with a 100mm lens in front of a 50MP sensor, which has received Zeiss APO certification. Additionally, the device incorporates a 50MP ultrawide lens and utilizes Vivo’s innovative 6nm V3 imaging chip. For capturing selfies, a 32 MP front camera is employed.

With the exception of low-light situations, the Vivo X100 Pro consistently delivers good pictures, although they may appear slightly over-saturated in some scenarios. The images are notable for their sharpness and vibrant colors. The portrait mode generally performs well, although it may encounter occasional difficulties in accurately separating the subject from the background. Overall, the Vivo X100 Pro captures highly social media-friendly photos that are bright, colorful, and crisp.

Who should buy the Vivo X100 Pro?

The Vivo X100 Pro is an excellent smartphone, presenting a fantastic display, commendable performance, impressive cameras, premium aesthetics, and remarkably fast charging capabilities that compensate for its average battery life. Additionally, the phone’s user interface is free from bloatware, which is an added advantage. So, is this the right phone for you? Absolutely! If you have ample budget flexibility, aren’t constantly on the go (considering battery life), and prioritize a top-notch camera in your smartphone experience, the X100 Pro is the ideal choice for you.
