Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Unveils India’s First Bullet Train Terminal

New Delhi: Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially unveiled a video showcasing India’s first bullet train terminal located at the Sabarmati Multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad. The sophisticated terminal, designed with cutting-edge features, offers a glimpse of modern architecture blended with cultural heritage. The inaugural bullet train, a project supported by the Government of Japan in both technical and financial aspects, is poised to connect major cities in approximately 2.07 hours, boasting a maximum design speed of 350 km per hour.

The comprehensive project spans a 508-kilometer track, including tunnels and an underwater route. The estimated total cost is around Rs 1,08,000 Crore, with 81% covered by a Japanese soft loan featuring a minimal interest rate of 0.1% per annum. The repayment period extends over 50 years, with a 15-year grace period.

Initiated in 2017, the project received significant attention during a special event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Operated under the guidance of Shinkansen Technology, known for its reliability and safety over 50 years, the bullet train project marks a groundbreaking journey for India.

The government envisions an extensive High-Speed Rail (HSR) network, with plans for six additional corridors, including Delhi to Varanasi, Delhi to Ahmedabad, Mumbai to Nagpur, Mumbai to Hyderabad, Chennai to Mysore, and Delhi to Amritsar. As India embraces this transformative endeavor, the bullet train terminal stands as a testament to innovation and progress in the country’s transportation infrastructure.
