Mercedes G-Class Facelift Unveiled with Mild Hybrid Engines and Enhanced Features

Mercedes G-Class Facelift Unveiled

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz has introduced the latest facelift for its iconic G-Class lineup, the second update for this generation. The refreshed G-Class comes with a range of mild-hybrid engine options and several other enhancements aimed at enhancing its performance and appeal.

Powertrain Enhancements

One of the notable updates includes the introduction of mild-hybrid technology in the G-Class range. The entry-level model now has a 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine with a 48V integrated starter generator (ISG). This powertrain configuration delivers an impressive output of 357 horsepower and 750Nm of torque, resulting in a power bump from the previous G400d to the new G450d designation. Additionally, the G500 variant available in select markets gets a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol engine, which now produces 436 horsepower.

Exterior Refinements

The facelifted G-Class showcases subtle but impressive design updates. These include a revised front bumper, radiator grille, subtly rounded A-pillars, and a new windscreen lip. These design changes not only enhance the aesthetics of the vehicle but also contribute to improving aerodynamic efficiency and reducing NVH levels. Additionally, the placement of the front-facing camera has been lowered into the bumper, giving a clear ‘transparent bonnet’ view for better visibility.

Interior Upgrades

Inside the cabin, the G-Class receives the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system, which includes a touchscreen interface for the first time. Additional interior features include temperature-controlled cup holders, a wireless mobile charger and the introduction of keyless entry for added convenience. Complementing the adventurous spirit of the vehicle, the off-road ‘Control Centre’ on the dashboard has also been redesigned to provide easy access to essential functions.

Off-Road Capability

Despite the enhancements, there has been no compromise in the off-road capability of the G-Class. It retains its impressive off-road figures, including ground clearance of 229 mm, wading depth of 700 mm and exceptional angles of approach and stability on slopes.

Mercedes-AMG G63 Update

The high-performance Mercedes-AMG G63 version gets its share of updates, including an advanced new active suspension system to enhance both on- and off-road performance. Additionally, the AMG G63 now features 48V mild-hybrid technology, maintaining its powerful 585 horsepower output. Additionally, an optional AMG Active Ride Control system, devoid of conventional anti-roll bars, further enhances the driving experience.

The Mercedes G-Class facelift sets new standards in luxury SUVs, combining cutting-edge technology with unparalleled off-road capability, ensuring its continued legacy as an automotive icon.
