Signify's Lighting Initiative Benefits 17,000 in 60+ Tribal Villages, Andhra Pradesh

Mumbai: Signify, a global leader in lighting solutions, has implemented an impactful project in Parvathipuram Manyam district, Andhra Pradesh, illuminating 61 tribal and marginal villages with energy-efficient LED street lighting. This initiative, executed in collaboration with grassroots NGO Jana Kalyana Samakhya under the ‘Har Gaon Roshan’ CSR program, aligns with Signify’s commitment to sustainable rural development and women’s safety in India.

The project significantly enhances safety and security for local communities, facilitating regular meetings to address community issues. Illuminated streets have decreased human-wildlife conflicts, enabling more time for economic activities and outdoor pursuits for children while improving women’s safety. Over 700 high-quality, energy-efficient outdoor streetlights have transformed the lives of more than 16,500 villagers across 3,900 households. This endeavor underscores Signify’s dedication to fostering positive change and sustainable development in underserved areas.

Commenting on the project, Nikhil Gupta, Head of Marketing, Strategy, Govt. Affairs & CSR – Signify, Greater India said“Our CSR strategy and initiatives resonate with our brand purpose which is to unlock the extraordinary potential of light for brighter lives and a better world. We are strongly committed to our CSR initiatives and our vision for developing underprivileged diverse communities. We are proud to have partnered with Jana Kalyana Samakhya on this project, helping improve lives in the tribal villages of Andhra Pradesh”.
